John S. Wildman’s Bday party @ SMG
Yesterday, I attended a surprise birthday party for John S Wildman. John Wildman serves as the Director of Press and Public Relations for the AFI FEST International Film Festival in Hollywood and the AFI DALLAS International Film Festival.

His friends rented a theater at Studio Movie Grill for the party, brought some cookies (he doesn’t like cake), and setup the theater to play a movie he was in.
The movie was a B flick named “Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama”. According to John, the entire script was 50 pages and the production was done for around $90,000. It was totally cheezy but kinda fun to watch. Here’s a clip: http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2073231641/.
I have to say, John has been a great boss to work for. I’m looking forward to next year’s AFI Dallas Film Festival. Happy Birthday John!
PS.. Oh yea, I’m still waiting on my media so I can post my pictures. If you are reading this, Tim or Doc, please please hurry!

Frustrated
The AFI Dallas Film Festival has been over since Sunday. I’m waiting for the rest of my media and the OK to make my pix public. Unfortunately, sorting and tagging 75,000 photos takes a while. And of course, media outlets get first priority.

So Far Behind
I had planned on staying current with my blogging while trying to maintain a balance between my day job, shooting events at the AFI Dallas Film Festival, and my personal life. Obviously, reality dictated otherwise.
I’m working on updating www.mrevil.net and making it look better and at the same time integrating Amazon’s S3 storage service for hosting. It’s taking some time to familiarize myself with what it can and can’t do. I’m also working with my Flickr account to determine the best way to show my photo’s as compared to storing them @ Amazon S3.
For those waiting on the pictures from the past few days, they are coming. Slowly. Some of my media I have in my possession. Most of it is on hold, waiting to be released from AFI’s Director of Photography. As soon as he allows me to get a copy, I’ll start tagging and uploading.
Until then, keep watching!

AFI Dallas Film Festival: Day 6
Nothing too exciting for me. I needed some rest so that I could get my work done effectively and be refreshed for tonight and the rest of the festival. I DID get to see the world champion of Guitar Hero 3 playing at Victory Park on the huge, 3 story screens. I also saw him get beat by a young guy that just walked up off the street with his friends. That guy is very happy right now enjoying the beating he passed along and the $100.00 he won.

Bye Bye STi
Since I got the TBSS, it was time to let the STi go. Subaru of Plano made me an offer that was very reasonable. Considering that I would have had to deal with tire kickers and test drivers, and the insults from low-ballers, it was worth it to let it go to a reputable dealership.
While I will miss the STi, the TBSS has certainly earned its place in the stable.
AFI Dallas Film Festival: Day 4
Day 4 was a blast! I took lots of pictures and can’t wait to post them up. I’m getting ready for Day 5 right now, but I’ll try to make time to update this blog with the events of the past few nights.
Day 4’s schedule:
- Magnolia Theater: Q&A after “Flow”, “Goliath”, “Dinner with a President”
- Target Film Festival Lounge: I got a lot of shots here. Party started at 5 PM and went on till 2 AM. I took a break around 7:30 to shoot the party at LFT hosted by Loco Energy Drink and MegaTrax.
Highlights: The Willie Nelson impersonator, “Almost Willie”. He snookered a LOT of people. I was one of the first and enjoyed getting pictures of other individuals getting snookered as well.
Amy Redford also made an appearance. Lots of people wanted to get their picture with her as well.
More to come!

Welcome to my new whip: The Trailblazer SS
6.0L LS2 V8. 400 HP. Black on Black. What’s not to like?
Easter Friday, I set out to buy a 99 Navigator for cash, trade in my ‘05 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, and be done with a car note for a while. It turns out purchasing a car with cash from a dealership takes longer than financing one. At the end of the purchase experience, I changed my mind and bought an ‘06 Trailblazer SS.

Looking forward to many miles on this bad boy!
